1519: Ferdinand Magellan sets sail with about 270 men on his expedition to circumnavigate the globe... well, about 200 men joined him to circumnavigate the globe, the other 70 guys thought it was a gay singles cruise.


1633: Galileo is tried before the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith for teaching that the Earth orbits the Sun, and thus condemning future generations of elementary school kids to more science homework.


1982: The National Football League players begin a 57-day strike, forcing millions of American men to actually talk to their wives.
