1609: Henry Hudson began his exploration of the Hudson River while aboard the Halve Maen... mostly because he was too afraid to take the Staten Island Ferry.


1885: Arbroath defeats Bon Accord 36-0 to set a world record for the greatest victory in pro soccer. Bon Accord team disbands and re-forms as the much more successful first group of soccer hooligans.


2007: Former Philippine President Joseph Estrada is convicted of the crime of plunder. He was acquitted of pillaging.
