June 19th

1846: The first officially recorded organized baseball match is played... but the game does not catch on until 17 years later when somebody brings beer.

1970: The Patent Cooperation Treaty is signed, but ironically, everyone steals the American delegation's new pens.

1974: A woman in Bellevue, Washington, becomes the first person to be saved by the Heimlich maneuver... administered by some guy who was actually just trying to cop a feel.
