1509: Henry VIII marries Catherine of Aragon… after mistaking her for a turkey leg.


1776: The Continental Congress appoints Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston to the Committee of Five to draft a declaration of independence. (Later they hire Sidney Sheldon to sex it up a bit).


1962: Frank Morris, John Anglin and Clarence Anglin escape from Alcatraz, take one look at San Francisco, decide it’s too weird, and swim back.
