This Day in History: July 18th

1870: The First Vatican Council decrees the dogma of papal infallibility. Since then, no Pope has been able to find anyone willing to play him in Scrabble.

1925: Adolf Hitler publishes his personal manifesto "Mein Kampf"... not surprisingly, no one shows up for the midnight release and book signing at the Miami Barnes and Noble.

1969: After a party on Chappaquiddick Island, Senator Ted Kennedy drives off a bridge and his passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, dies. Thus begins Kennedy's lifelong struggle to provide free health care to drowning people.
