May 14th


1870: The first game of rugby in New Zealand is played in Nelson between Nelson College and the Nelson Rugby Football Club... there were three survivors.


1889: The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children is launched in London. It's first act is to get all children out of London.


1925: Virginia Woolf's novel Mrs Dalloway is published in the hopes of getting more people depressed before 1926.
