1942: French prisoner of war General Henri Giraud escapes from his castle prison in Festung Königstein… with the intent of finding more Germans and surrendering to them too.

1964: The Ford Motor Company unveils the Ford Mustang at the New York World's Fair. Thousands of New Yorkers line up for the chance to be the first to pee in it.

1971: The People's Republic of Bangladesh is declared as a haven for people who like lots of floods and not so much food.
