Lewis Pay Cut
The good news is that new White House pay czar Ken Feinberg is cutting Bank of America CEO Ken Lewis' pay by $1.5 million for 2009. The bad news is that Feinberg and his staff are now being paid $1.5 million in additional salary for 2009.



Balloon Boy Hoax?
The 6-year-old Colorado boy thought to have floated off in a homemade balloon has raised questions about whether it was just an elaborate stunt. In fact, the 9/11 "Truther" movement claims this was all done as an excuse to escalate the war in Afghanistan.




Swine Flu: Religious Response
As swine flu fear grows, many religious congregations are taking precautions. Roman Catholic parishes are using individual plastic cups for Communion. Jewish Synagogues are putting sanitary wipes at each seat, and Islamic mosques are asking everyone not to share the same suicide bombing detanators.



No Social Security COLA's
There will be no Social Security cost of living increase this year, but the government says that all Americans can turn in their elederly relatives with over 200,000 miles on them for a $250 cash credit.



Smoking ban Study
A new study shows that smoking bans in public places reduce everyone's risk of lung cancer and heart disease. But the same study shows that the bans increase the risk of smokers stabbing the people who tell them they can't smoke here.

1875: Brigham Young University is founded in Provo, Utah. There are no fraternities or parties, but the school's football team is immediately ranked in the top 10.

1916: Margaret Sanger founds Planned Parenthood, making this day a national holiday for deadbeat dads all over America.


2002: Bibliotheca Alexandrina in the Egyptian city of Alexandria, a commemoration of the Library of Alexandria that was lost in antiquity, is officially inaugurated. Al Qaeda and Hamas terrorists then re-enact the burning of the original library by blowing the new one up.
