1895: While experimenting with electricity, Wilhelm Röntgen discovers the X-ray... and what's underneath his secretary's blouse.



1965: Britain abolishes the death penalty, which explains why most English dentists are still alive.



1973: The right ear of John Paul Getty III is delivered to a Rome newspaper together with a ransom note. But this being Rome, no one bothered to open the package for three weeks.
