324: Licinius abdicates his position as Roman Emperor… mostly to pursue his solo career.

1777: George Washington's Continental Army goes into winter quarters at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. In order to keep warm, Washington is forced to adopt a “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

1967: Prime Minister of Australia Harold Holt is officially presumed dead… but being an Australian politician, it remains exceedingly hard to tell the difference between him and his living colleagues.
