1620: The Battle of White Mountain takes place near Prague, ending in a decisive Catholic victory thanks to an army of nuns with rulers.


1837: Mary Lyon founds Mount Holyoke College, thus initiating the medical phenomenon known as "Four-Year Lesbianism."


1960: John Fitzgerald Kennedy is elected the 35th President of the United States, defeating Richard M. Nixon and forcing the Secret Service to post a guard outside Marilyn Monroe's bedroom.
