1835: Mexican soldiers attempt to disarm the people of Gonzales, Texas, but encounter stiff resistance from a hastily assembled militia of people who thought they were illegal aliens.


1919: President Woodrow Wilson suffers a massive stroke, making him the most disabled president until Jimmy Carter.


1925: John Logie Baird performs the first test of a working television system... but he keeps the audience waiting as he would only promise to show up to work on the TV between the hours of 12 and four.
