1522: The Victoria, the only surviving ship of Ferdinand Magellan's expedition, returns to Spain, becoming the first ship to circumnavigate the world. Almost 500 years later, the ship still smells terrible.


1901: Anarchist Leon Czolgosz shoots and fatally wounds President William McKinley at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. That was just the second worst thing to happen to McKinley that day... the first was having to go to Buffalo.


1976: Soviet air force pilot Lt. Viktor Belenko lands a MiG-25 jet fighter in Japan and requests political asylum in the United States. In return, he offers his help in battling Godzilla.
